Alexa Bunnell is a queer identifying settler based in
Mohkinstsís (Calgary, AB) on Treaty 7 Territory.

Their work mediates encounters with queer considerations of para-realms (utopias), slippages and identity. In their artistic practice you can find mothers, mirrors, mermaids, air raid sirens, hair, honey, reflections, queer elders, songs, bodies of water and fish nets.

Alexa received their Bachelor of Fine Art from the Alberta University of the Arts in 2019.

Recent presentations of their work include the Marion Nicoll Gallery 15+ Space at Arts Commons (2016), The New Gallery (2018), Untitled Art Society (2018), the Marion Nicoll Gallery Main Space (2019) and White Rabbit Arts Festival (2019).

Alexa is also one half of Dirty Douks with Skylar Eyre, a project contemplating the intersections of their queer bodies and ancestral Freedomite action.
